Writing Ain't Easy

Bite off more than you can chew, then chew it.
-Ella Williams

I like this lady. She has guts that precede her accomplishments. I looked her up on Wikipedia and realize that gumption was the vitamin she swallowed daily from a very young age. Vitamin 'G'.

I grabbed this quote that complements an entry written by literary agent, Rachelle Gardner. Today she discussed a syndrome that every writer struggles with as a chronic malady. Self-doubt and a lack of confidence seem to accompany the reading lists, lap tops, spiral notebooks, and overall luggage of a scribbler. My business card should read: "I am my own worst critic." As if this is a qualification for publishing.

Name it...anything worth doing. Singing, marriage, family, writing, ballet, designing games, or selling them. Is anything in this life easy?

That's all for now. I need to get to the most important bullet on my list, before the kids wake up. I am currently reading The Great Gatsby by Scott Fitzgerald. Reading in, writing out...

Peace, Susan

  2. Everything always seems harder than expected...and it is the struggle itself, that makes writing worth reading! Your post did make me wonder though, maybe I should have tried to become an actress or a singer, perhaps they didn't need 'bad' stuff to make their dreams come true?
